Divemasters trained at Remote Area Dive have gone on to do their dive and first aid instructor courses and have furthered their experience by completing the Master Scuba Diver Trainer and Staff Instructors and are now travelling/working within the industry all over the world, including places such as Honduras, Palau and America.

Becoming a Divemaster:

During your PADI Divemaster course you will learn to: Adapt to and overcome situations above and below the surface, lead certified and student divers, assist instructors as well learn general boating logistics and managerial skills to be applied to the dive industry.

Full time Divemaster traineeships run over 6 to 8 weeks (and normally include some non-contact study days) or around 3-4 months on a part time basis on weekends.

Your Commitment:

Your commitment to this career program should be given careful consideration. Please note limited numbers of candidates are selected during intake times.

Remote Area Dive’s goal is to create a small pool of highly trained dive crew for later selection as part of our team on our boat and dive centre. As with most tertiary institutions, the program is not designed to allow candidates to drop in and out of the traineeship midway through a module, penalties may apply.

Additional costs: (not associated with RAD)

  • PADI membership application fees upon completion $169.40

  • Professional liability Insurance upon completion around $190.00 (If you want to be employed in the industry).

It is expected that RAD Divemasters will invest in their own good quality dive equipment as opposed to hiring.  We provide a generous discount to our trainees who are looking at purchasing their own dive gear.  Otherwise gear can be hired for the duration of the course at $395. This is payable on commencement of the Dive Master Diver program. No hire available on snorkeling items or accessories like torches.
